Nicola Spurling’s priority is uplifting British Columbians who are struggling. Whether the struggle is with housing affordability, climate change, or government accountability, she believes everyone should feel heard and supported by their MLA.
Nicola is deeply committed to community support, with a strong history of tangible actions, including extensive volunteer work, political activism, and advocacy for social issues. Her professional background in project management, particularly in residential renovations and DEI consulting, complements her passion for social justice. As a Social Justice Ambassador, she has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and drive change on critical issues.
Among Nicola’s notable accomplishments are her successful petitions to include gender identity and gender expression in the BC Human Rights Code and the Canadian Human Rights Act, founding the Tri-Cities Pride Society, and advocating for the installation of a rainbow crosswalk in Coquitlam. Additionally, she was one of the first trans people to run for provincial public office and played a pivotal role in the removal of a BC political party leader for discriminatory practices.
Nicola is running in the 2024 BC election to further her mission of creating a more equitable society. She believes the BC Green Party, with its evidence-based policies and commitment to independent thinking, is the best platform for achieving meaningful change in British Columbia.
