Maureen Curran is an experienced educator and community activist with a strong background in science and environmental advocacy. She earned her BSc from McGill University and completed a Master’s degree in Physics at the University of Victoria. For 25 years, Maureen has taught science and math in Coquitlam, where she also worked with the SFU Teacher Education Program to build sustainable and socially diverse learning communities.
Maureen’s commitment to her community extends beyond the classroom. As a mother raising two boys in New Westminster, she has been deeply involved in local initiatives, from coaching little league to advocating for accessible playgrounds and participating in cycling and environmental committees. Her dedication to environmental stewardship is evident in her activism, particularly in her efforts to protect local forests and salmon streams from harmful development.
Maureen’s campaign is driven by a commitment to putting the needs of families and communities at the forefront of policy decisions. Her scientific expertise, combined with her passion for social justice, makes her a trusted advocate for a sustainable and inclusive future for British Columbia.
