Jeremy Valeriote

West Vancouver-Sea to Sky

Jeremy Valeriote came within 60 votes (out of 25,000) of winning West Vancouver-Sea to Sky in the last provincial election.

With your support we can get Jeremy over the line this time.

Let’s make history and elect the first Green MLA on the BC mainland.

I’m running again because government isn’t working for most people. It’s time to shake things up, put people first, and send more Greens to Victoria.

We need affordable housing, regional transit, reliable healthcare and jobs in the new Green economy.

I’m opposing Woodfibre LNG because the evidence is clear, whatever the big corporate interests and their politician friends say. It’s a bad idea for Howe Sound, for our climate, and for our kids.

I strongly believe that I owe it to my 10 year-old twin daughters to do everything in my power to tackle climate change, so that they will inherit a better future.

Please support me and vote Green on October 19.

Support for Jeremy

BC is being hammered by the impacts of climate change from forest fires to heat domes, melting glaciers, floods and warming ocean waters.

The leader of the BC Conservatives was kicked out of the BC Liberal party for being a climate denier, while the BC NDP supports more LNG projects that will exacerbate the climate crisis.

If climate change concerns you, you must vote for Jeremy Valeriote of the BC Greens.

David Suzuki

Climate Change Activist

Jeremy shares the same passion and concern I do for the climate. His decision-making is based on science and I trust him to bring the kind of governance that comes as a result of collaboration with the scientific community and his colleagues in the legislature.

Leslie Anthony

Biologist, Author and Science/Environment Writer

Jeremy is a strong candidate who I also endorsed in 2020, and who came very close to making history last election. I truly believe we need more Greens in the BC Legislature, and I am pleased to give Jeremy my support in this BC election.

Wade Davis

Professor of Anthropology and the BC Leadership Chair in Cultures & Ecosystems at Risk at UBC

Jeremy’s running so he can do a job, not land a job. If all of our politicians just wanted to roll up their sleeves and get to work, we’d have a world that works.

Robin Spano

Crime Writer, Activist & Mom

Jeremy originally ran for elected office because he believed that more scientists and engineers were needed in politics, to respond to the existential threat of climate change, and to promote innovation and entrepreneurship for the transition to a green economy. West Van – Sea to Sky is ready to choose a different kind of representation, and I am confident that Jeremy has the public interest at heart, and will tirelessly fight for, and faithfully represent, the residents of this beautiful natural environment as their MLA.

Tzeporah Berman

Founder & Chair, Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative

Jeremy is an experienced local leader who can bring positive change to our region.

He is focused on solutions:

  • to protect our natural bounty of forests, rivers and ocean,
  • to invest in green jobs and businesses, and
  • to support renewable energy projects; not polluting industries like LNG
Nora Gambioli

West Vancouver Councillor

We are voting Green because they will stay true to the values that we hold dear. We need Jeremy and others like him in the legislature to inspire better actions, like more investments in transit. Sonia Furstenau, is a deeply experienced and thoughtful BC Green Party Leader and Jeremy will be a strong addition to her team.

Ann Duffy & Tony Kloepfer

Parent and Global Sport & Sustainability Advisor, Parent and Professional Architect

Beyond being an excellent candidate, a BC Green Party candidate, and worthy of support for that reason, he also has the best chance to defeat the BC Conservatives in our riding, West Vancouver-Sea to Sky.

Bob Turner

Filmmaker, retired geoscientist, and former mayor of Bowen Island Municipality.

I am voting Green because they will stay true to the values that I hold dear. We need Jeremy and others like him in the legislature to inspire better actions, like more investments in transit. Sonia Furstenau, the BC Green Party Leader is awesome and Jeremy will be a strong addition to her team.

Ken Melamed

It is my honour to endorse Jeremy Valeriote as the next MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky. He will fight for the communities in this spectacular part of BC, forged in his long experience as an environmental engineer and as a deeply committed father. As Greens we work for our children, their babies yet to come, and all of those precious children threatened by the climate crisis. I know Jeremy will fight for health care, ending poverty and expanding fairness as part of a Green Team holding the balance of responsibility. Only a Green MLA works for one boss- voters in their district. No top-down silly party politics. Jeremy’s feet are planted firmly on the ground. Once elected, he will get to work, for you!

Elizabeth May

Leader, The Green Party of Canada

Jeremy Valeriote’s strong environmental and social values, experience in politics, and engineering background, make him an excellent candidate in this election. It is my pleasure to endorse him for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky.

Dr John Millar

Former BC Provincial Health Officer for West Vancouver

As grandparents, we are delighted to endorse a candidate who has young children and is dedicated to a sustainable vision that will protect our world for future generations. With Jeremy’s experience as an environmental engineer and former councillor, we are confident that he has the experience and the drive to represent our riding.

John & Rose Dudley

Lions Bay

Jeremy was just 61 votes short of winning last time and I highly recommend voting for him again. Jeremy is dedicated to standing up for Green values. It takes commitment and stamina to keep pushing for climate solutions and solving the inequity crisis in our society. Together with Jeremy, we will have the chance to make a difference and hold the powers that be accountable.

Silvaine Zimmermann

Mother, Ecologist & Oceanographer, & life-long Activist

Jeremy is the kind of strong and visionary leader we need to rally behind, shaping a future where zero emissions and economic opportunity go hand in hand, leaving no one behind. He holds truth to power and isn’t afraid to call out hypocrisy. My family and I trust Jeremy to lead with integrity and ensure a just, sustainable future.

Juvarya Veltkamp

Senior Advisor to local governments and board director of a financial institution

I have believed for some time that Jeremy would be a great MLA for the Sea to Sky. As a forward-thinking family guy, he represents the values that so many of us here feel are important

Mike Douglas

Filmmaker and Professional Skier

Amongst the hundreds of B.C. MLAs and candidates I’ve worked with over the past 40 years, Jeremy is one of the most honest, hard-working and intelligent.  He has all the skills, education, experience and integrity he needs to be a superb representative of the residents of every part of West Vancouver – Sea to Sky, and to make a great contribution to the province as a whole.

John Moonen

Government Relations Advisor, West Vancouver

In 2020 Jeremy narrowly missed being elected. That loss did not deter him. Instead, he dug in and did the work. In the years since he has demonstrated his dedication to accountability and his commitment to the communities of West Vancouver-Sea to Sky and British Columbia by advocating for greener solutions and supporting the kind of long term, sustainable decision-making this province needs now. Realizing these goals begins with our votes to ensure that after October 19th Jeremy is our MLA, bringing to Victoria the kind of constructive conversations and critical insight that I, and many other British Columbians, believe in.

Dana Taylor

Former CEO, Mechanical Contractors Association of BC, Green Party Candidate: Provincial - 2017 WVS2S; Federal - 2019 WVSCS2S Country

As a kid who grew up in Whistler, I have seen so much change in this community over the years. I trust Jeremy to lead us in a direction that supports both social and environmental well-being. He will guide the Sea to Sky in a way that takes care of the present while protecting the future of this beautiful place we call home.

Stephen Vogler

Author, Playwright, Musician

Jeremy believes in a sustainable economy that balances our community’s immediate needs with that of the future of our planet. His experience as an environmental engineer, and in local government gives me the confidence to know that he can deliver on these forward-thinking policies.

Mac Lowry

Clean Energy Professional

I’m endorsing Jeremy because he’s the only candidate who stands up for what truly matters. He is principled, genuine, and committed to protecting Howe Sound from the destructive Woodfibre LNG project—a pipeline and terminal that would devastate our environment from West Vancouver to Squamish. Jeremy’s leadership is exactly what we need to preserve the beauty and integrity of our coastal community.

Farhan Umedaly

Human Rights/Conservation Filmmaker & Educator

Jeremy is an awesome guy who has shown accountability and dedication to the sort of long-term decision making the folks in the Sea to Sky deserve, with a focus on creating a sustainable economy through healthy and vibrant ecosystems.  I would love to see him be able to bring issues up in Victoria through constructive conversation and critical insight in order to create a better future for all of us who share this magical world together.

Ross Reid

Founder, Nerdy About Nature

I support Jeremy because he understands that in a time of potential ecosystem and biodiversity collapse, advocating for environmental health and resilience must be our priority. The problematic relationship between our provincial Government and the Fossil Fuel industry has resulted in the funnelling of our tax dollars into corporate welfare for one of the most lucrative industries in history, in a time of a cost-of-living crisis for the residents of this province. Jeremy understands the importance of listening to community members, professionals and scientists to hold the provincial and federal governments to account on their relative inaction on environmental crises and affordability. We need elected officials, like Jeremy, who will work with municipalities, First Nations and community members to create a trusting and transparent relationship with governance and provide long-term solutions that put the quality of life of our communities first by prioritizing housing and healthcare accessibility, transitioning from a resource-based economy, gender equity, reconciliation and prioritization of regional transit.

Lauren Greenlaw

Squamish Councillor

A leader like Jeremy is just what we need for the Sea to Sky region. Someone who recognises that the only rational way forward is to place sustainability, local welfare, and the environment at the forefront of political action.

Anna Segal

Professional Athlete

I am so excited to vote for Jeremy and the BC Green Party. More than ever, we need strong voices for our communities and our environment in the legislature. I know Jeremy will work hard to ensure regional transit, climate change and housing are priorities for this next government

Sue Maxwell

Former Whistler councillor and sustainability consultant

As a former Green candidate – at federal, provincial and municipal levels – I am excited to support someone who is pragmatic yet principled, and determined to win. After coming so close in 2020, and with support for BC Greens growing across West Van-Sea to Sky, I am confident that Jeremy will get over the line this time.
