Devyani Singh
Vancouver-Point GreyDevyani believes that your representative should work for you, listen to you, and advocate for you. Someone who will stand up to the government for you and make evidence-based decisions. Someone who embraces facts, not political ideology, and will always put people and the planet over profit
Growing up in the Indian Himalayas, Devyani saw the impacts of climate change on ecosystems firsthand – receding glaciers, burning forests, and the near extinction of species. After moving to the US for her MBA and working for Fortune 200 companies, she witnessed corporations finding loopholes to exploit the environment. This led her to pursue another Masters in environmental science, a Ph.D. at UBC, a career in climate science, and ultimately, politics.
Devyani has spent years working on global climate policy issues – clean cooking access in India, sustainable forestry initiatives in the Great Bear Rainforest, oil and gas emissions in Canada, and much more.
As a proud resident of Vancouver-Point Grey, Devyani understands the problems in the riding – protecting our access to public parks and beaches, high costs of living, and the need for affordable and accessible healthcare, post-secondary education, and climate resilience.
As a BC Greens MLA, she is committed to finding solutions through community consultation and scientific research. Politicians have repeatedly ignored scientists, so she is determined to bring science to them in the legislature.
