Arzeena Hamir

Courtenay-Comox

Arzeena Hamir is a dedicated business owner and organic farmer in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, where she has lived with her family for over a decade. As an agronomist, Arzeena’s career has always focused on the sustainability and well-being of communities. Currently serving as Program Manager for Agricultural Climate Solutions with the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC, she has a proven track record in leadership and public service.

In 2018, Arzeena was elected as Director for Area B and Vice Chair on the Board of the Comox Valley Regional District, representing her community for four years. During her time on the Lower Mainland, she supported the creation of community gardens, food literacy programs, and spearheaded a ban on the use of cosmetic pesticides and GMOs in the City of Richmond. Arzeena’s extensive experience includes roles such as staff agronomist with West Coast Seeds, soil management instructor at UBC, and Coordinator for the Richmond Food Security Society. She also helped launch the Richmond Farm School with Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Arzeena’s commitment to her community extends to various boards and committees, including Young Agrarians, Farmers For Climate Solutions, and the Comox Valley Food Policy Council.

As a BC Green MLA, Arzeena believes her proven track record and leadership make her a strong candidate to represent Courtenay-Comox. She is determined to address critical issues such as healthcare, affordable housing, and real climate action. With the BC Greens, she knows she can make a significant difference for the residents of the Comox Valley. Vote for Arzeena Hamir for a sustainable and prosperous future.

Support for Arzeena

My father used to say it’s not what you know, but who you know… and I was so impressed with who Arzeena knew and what she knew… She does things positively and actually does things – she doesn’t just promise things.
Eric Alexander

Comox Resident

There is no better candidate than Arzeena. She will work tirelessly for citizens of our community. Arzeena has put forward a caring and common-sense platform on business, healthcare, social issues, Island food security, and a range of other issues. She is experienced, honest and incredibly dedicated to representing the concerns of the people our community. She has knocked on more doors than any other candidate in this riding. My deep hope is that the citizens of Comox Valley will use their single votes to support her. We have the chance to show that we courageously value diversity and integrity in our political system. Arzeena Hamir will represent both the current and future needs of Courtenay-Comox residents with a clear and powerful voice in Victoria.

I am thrilled to offer my whole-hearted support for Arzeena to be our next MLA for Courtenay-Comox. As a respected leader across the entire community, she has the experience, knowledge, and passion to represent our local issues in Victoria. We desperately need Arzeena’s integrity, truth-telling, and compassion at a time of misinformation, fear-mongering, and politicking.

Evan Jolicoeur

Councillor, Courtenay

Now more than ever, we need a strong voice for our region in Victoria, an inspiring community builder, with expansive roots in our valley, a strategic thinker with a can-do attitude, someone who listens, reflects, and supports action on the issues that matter to us. Importantly, we need someone who values people, place AND the planet, someone with integrity, someone who will hold the opposition’s feet to the fire when they put forth policy that compromises one for the other.
Joanne Bays, MSc

Founder, Farm to Cafeteria Canada

I gave up on the provincial NDP when so many of their big policies – Site C, LNG subsidies, poor forest practices – flew in the face of what I value for people & the planet. The only party not chasing after ill-informed policies is the Green Party. I know Arzeena has the same kind of vision for a better world as I do and has proved she stands for what is just, fair and equitable for all. Arzeena has our collective interest in mind, and that is why she is working so hard to be our voice in Victoria.

Barbara Berger

Council of Canadians and Fair Vote Comox Valley

Arzeena is exactly the person we need to represent us in Victoria. She will be a voice for everyone in the Comox Valley and is focused on affordable housing, healthcare, and fiscal responsibility.
Jonathan Kerr, MD

Councillor, Comox

Today, I voted. Arzeena, you got my vote. You are involved in so many aspects of the community, incredibly hard-working, your heart and head are in the right place. I trust you and your strong values and ethics to be my voice and to make the best decisions for my family, my community, and my province as we strive for a more sustainable world, today and in the future.

Alex Bissinger

P. Eng/M. Eng, Former Councillor, Comox

I’ve known Arzeena a long time and I love her! The reason I joined Arzeena’s team is because she is really big on homelessness, changing things to make it better for everybody, and I am super excited about that. I believe she will be the best MLA for our community!
Julia Tait

Advocate for Differently Abled People, L'Arche Comox Valley

It was my honour to be part of the committee that started the farm-to-school project in SD71 where we created salad bars in many schools. We have provided vegetables for thousands of people over the years. I really appreciate who you are and the support you give to this community around food security, for those who would not be able to give that nutrition to their families otherwise.
Barb Whyte

Nurse and K'omoks Elder

I wholeheartedly support Arzeena Hamir’s bid to become our next MLA for Courtenay-Comox. We need an independent voice who is passionate about the climate emergency, food security, and social justice issues such as affordable housing and the toxic drug crisis.

As a Canadian Disability Advocate on Federal & Provincial levels, I proudly endorse Arzeena Hamir. The Greens have always supported our fight for proper financial support of medically assessed & designated Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in BC. This means, at minimum, poverty-level monthly support, safe, appropriate housing, and dignity & respect shown toward those who are often disregarded. Arzeena has my full support as she speaks for those of us who need to be seen and heard. I call on my 147,000+ Disabled brothers & sisters in BC to vote for their BC Green candidate to keep our voices heard.
