VICTORIA, B.C. — Teams of BC Green volunteers are headed out across key ridings today to bring a hopeful vision for change to voters’ doorsteps. While the other parties have focused the early days of the campaign on political maneuvering and mudslinging, the BC Greens have released a series of evidence-based plans that will make BC the best place in the world again.
“We’re not here to play the same old political games. We’re here to put people first. The only way to do that? Elect more Green MLAs,” said BC Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau. “While the BC Conservatives embrace fear and ignore science and the BC NDP cynically adopt their harmful, short-sighted policies, we’re hitting the streets, meeting voters face-to-face, and listening to what really matters to them. The BC Greens are not just a party, we’re a movement. And when people mobilize, we win.”
The BC Greens are focused on key ridings where their support is surging – Victoria-Beacon Hill, Saanich North and the Islands, Courtenay-Comox, Kootenay Central, West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, Powell River-Sunshine Coast, Esquimalt-Colwood, Cowichan Valley, Oak Bay-Gordon Head – and the Greens are taking nothing for granted.
“These are not just ridings, they are communities ready for real change,” continued Furstenau. “The BC NDP has abandoned the progressive values they once claimed to hold dear. The people of BC deserve a party that stands by its principles, and the BC Greens are there to serve them.”
“For the next 28 days, Greens will be engaging voters on the ground, amplifying the message that there is a clear, strong alternative to the old style politics that fail to deliver for people,” said BC Greens Campaign Chair and twice elected MLA Adam Olsen.
“We might be a small party, but we stand alone in our commitment to a sustainable, equitable future for all British Columbians. We welcome everyone who is frustrated with a government that has not delivered the services we should all be able to count on, but sees that the Conservatives aren’t offering any real solutions.”
As the campaign kicks off, the BC Greens are sending a powerful message to voters across the province: Mobilize with us, and together, we will win.
