Victoria, BC / Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) Territory – The BC Green Party is excited to announce Ross Reid as the BC Greens candidate for the 2024 election in Mid Island-Pacific Rim. A passionate environmentalist and host of the popular multi-media project Nerdy About Nature, Ross Reid proudly represents BC Greens values of equity, inclusion, and climate action.
“Ross Reid is a tremendous advocate for the environment, social justice, and the type of evidence-based long-term thinking we need more of in politics. As an educator and multi-media creator, he’s already made a positive impact, and I’m so proud he’s running to represent Mid Island-Pacific Rim for the BC Greens,” said Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Greens.
Born and raised in the Cascadian Bioregion, Ross Reid has had a strong connection to the outdoors all his life. With a BFA in Film and Minor in Biology, as well as an MBA, Reid launched the wildly successful multi-media project ‘Nerdy About Nature’ in 2019. The project educates viewers on nature and our interrelationship to it, inspiring people to think differently and engage constructively to create a more just, equal, inclusive and diverse future. Reid also works in ecological watershed restoration with Redd Fish Restoration Society, healing previous damage done by industry in order to create a healthier future with more opportunities for all.
“Growing up amongst the beautiful lands and waters we all share, I’ve witnessed firsthand the lack of accountability for their degradation. I’m concerned about the housing crisis, old growth logging, the drug epidemic, job instability and lack of climate action, and am tired of being offered band-aid solutions that fail to address the real root of these issues: growing social inequality and systems that favour the hyper-wealthy,” said BC Greens candidate Ross Reid.
“I’m choosing to run with the BC Greens because I feel a strong alignment with their values and feel it is where I can make the most difference. I aim to speak up for those who cannot speak, and for those who when they do are not listened to. I hope to create constructive dialogue and work together to create a better future for us all here today, and those who follow.”

Biography: Ross Reid – Mid Island-Pacific Rim
Born and raised here in the Cascadian Bioregion, Ross was immersed in the outdoors as a young child, which aided in developing a strong affinity for exploring the natural world and building community around it. At the same time, he witnessed everywhere along the spectrum of healthy, vibrant landscapes, to devastated ecosystems and economies and the long-lasting impacts that are still present today in many ways. This connection to the outdoors led him to pursue a career in storytelling as an adventure filmmaker after attending MSU for a BFA in Film and a Minor in Biology. After a decade of experience telling stories about communities in the outdoors, he went back to school for an MBA to be more versed in the economics and drivers behind the business of today. This variety of experiences, education, love for the outdoors and a background in storytelling culminated in 2019 with the birth of ‘Nerdy About Nature’, a wildly successful multi-media project that educates folks on nature and our interrelationship to it as a means of inspiring them to think differently, engage constructively and work together to create a more just, equal, inclusive and diverse future for us all. In addition to creating equal-access education for all, Ross works in the ecological restoration of forests and watersheds to help heal the damage done by industry in the past in order to create a healthier future with more opportunity for all.
