Jeremy Valeriote

MLA – West Vancouver-Sea to Sky

Jeremy Valeriote is a passionate advocate for sustainable communities, environmental stewardship, and innovative governance. As the first-ever BC Green elected on the mainland, Jeremy brings decades of experience in environmental consulting, local government leadership, and public policy to his role as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for West Vancouver–Sea to Sky.

Jeremy’s career began in geological engineering, where he spent over a decade tackling complex environmental challenges, including contaminated site remediation, environmental impact assessment of proposed energy and industrial projects, and mine reclamation planning. He then followed his calling to public service and practical sustainability solutions, where he managed waste reduction, composting and recycling initiatives for local government on the Sunshine Coast of B.C.

Elected as a Councillor for the Town of Gibsons in 2014, Jeremy was a driving force behind groundbreaking initiatives. He played a principal role in promoting Gibsons’ Natural Asset Management initiative, a model now adopted across Canada, and served as the Town’s liaison to the Howe Sound Community Forum and Marine Stewardship Initiative, leading to Atl’ka7tsem Howe Sound’s designation as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Jeremy also championed active transportation investment and innovation, installation of the first EV charging station in Gibsons Landing, introduction of a residential composting program with Indigenous partners, and spoke out for public transit expansion as a Director of the Sunshine Coast Regional District.

In 2020, Jeremy narrowly missed becoming a BC Green MLA, coming within 60 votes of victory. Undeterred, he continued to advocate for regional transit, climate action, and the smooth transition to a green economy. During this time, he earned a Master’s in Leadership Studies from Royal Roads University, focusing on how local governments can better integrate environmental values into decision-making.

Jeremy’s leadership is inspired by his dedication to ensuring a better future for his twin daughters and for seven generations to come. His commitment to addressing the climate crisis, improving the health of our democracy, and measuring overall well-being and economic activity stems from a deeply held belief in evidence-based decision-making and cross-partisan collaboration.

As your MLA, Jeremy is focused on delivering practical, innovative solutions to the pressing challenges of our time. From opposing harmful projects like Woodfibre LNG to fighting for affordable housing, reliable healthcare, and regional transit, Jeremy is working tirelessly to ensure that West Vancouver–Sea to Sky leads the way in building a sustainable, equitable future for British Columbia.
