Oak Bay-Gordon Head, Victoria B.C. – With the recent announcement of MLA Murray Rankin’s retirement from politics, Deputy Leader and B.C. Greens Candidate Dr. Lisa Gunderson thanks Rankin for his service and commitment to Oak Bay-Gordon Head. She also wishes him and his family the very best in their future endeavours.
“I have especially appreciated Rankin’s support of reinstating (with modifications) the School Police Liaison Officer (SPLO) program in School District 61, where both my children have attended secondary school.”
Dr. Gunderson looks forward to healthy, productive debates with Rankin’s replacement, along with other Oak Bay-Gordon Head candidates, in the upcoming provincial election. “When we are at the door, my team and I are hearing what the voters of Oak Bay-Gordon Head want – real affordable housing, better access to mental and physical healthcare, and realistic solutions to our climate challenges.”
B.C. Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau also expressed her gratitude for Rankin’s contributions. “Murray Rankin has been an advocate for his community and a respected voice in the legislature. In his role as Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, he has contributed to some significant achievements, including the passing of the Haida Act, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
“I am confident that Dr. Lisa Gunderson will be an excellent and effective representative for Oak Bay-Gordon Head,” said Furstenau. “Dr Gunderson brings an exceptional level of experience and expertise, and she has demonstrated her ability to work in ways that build connection and collaboration in her community.”
Oak Bay- Gordon Head was represented by the B.C. Greens from 2013-2020. Dr. Lisa’s diverse skill set as a psychologist, clinician, community leader, businesswoman, and educator positions her perfectly to address the multiple crises we face today.
“By emphasizing what brings us together, we can foster collaboration and unity and engage in actionable change. We can provide the residents of Oak Bay-Gordon Head with an MLA who is able to represent them fearlessly. It’s time for transformative politics,” Dr. Gunderson concluded.
