VICTORIA, BC — Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Green Party has issued the following statement:
“It’s now clear why John Rustad wants to rip up BC’s climate plan, cancel the carbon tax and the electric vehicle mandate – he thinks climate action is a global depopulation plot. These are the fantastical ramblings of a man who refuses to deal in reality. How can he be trusted to solve BC’s very serious problems if he can’t acknowledge basic scientific facts?
“We also have to ask ourselves why the BC NDP have let things get to this point. When a government consistently fails to fix the problems it campaigns on and flip flops on key issues, people start to lose trust and faith in our system. That is what opens the door to conspiracy theories and extremism.
“Today I released a plan to solve the root causes of our biggest problems. It is rooted in evidence and data. Our team of BC Green candidates will work hard every day as MLAs to implement it and will not chase conspiracy theorists and bow to extremists every time they see a scary opinion poll.”
