Lək̓ʔəŋən [LEKWUNGEN] TERRITORY / VICTORIA, B.C. – BC Greens Leader Sonia Furstenau issued the following statement recognizing Adriane Carr’s remarkable contributions to BC politics, as she announces her retirement after 14 years on Vancouver City Council.
“Congratulations to Adriane on a long and impactful career in BC politics. As a co-founder of the BC Green Party, Adriane’s leadership and vision spearheaded the creation of a provincial Green movement and laid the foundation for the party’s growth,” said Furstenau. “Her work demonstrated how thoughtful, principled Green voices can create meaningful change and inspire communities across British Columbia.”
Adriane Carr has been instrumental in breaking through Green support in Vancouver, building bridges, and advancing policies that prioritize sustainability, equity, and community well-being.
“We are deeply grateful for Adriane’s tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to making BC a better place for everyone,” added Furstenau. “As she embarks on this new chapter, we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement. Her legacy will continue to inspire the work we do every day.”
