BC Green Party announces four new candidates for upcoming provincial election
Victoria, BC / Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) Territory – The BC Green Party is excited to introduce four dynamic candidates who will be running in the upcoming provincial election: Kerri Wall for Kootenay-Rockies, Francoise Renaut for Vancouver-Fraserview, Jed Wiebe for Salmon Arm-Shuswap and Carrie McLaren for Burnaby-South Metrotown. All of these candidates bring a wealth of experience, passion, and commitment to their respective communities.
“As we face the challenges of today and look toward a sustainable future, it’s community leaders like Kerri, Francoise, Jed who will help us chart a new course for British Columbia,” said Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Green Party. “These candidates embody the values of our party and are deeply connected to the communities they seek to represent.”
Kerri Wall has been a dedicated resident of Fernie, on unceded Ktunaxa territory, since 2008. With over 25 years of experience in public health and community service, Kerri has been instrumental in integrating health considerations into local government planning and policies across the Kootenays.
Kerri’s extensive experience in housing and poverty reduction, along with her work in anti-racism initiatives, makes her an ideal candidate to represent Kootenay-Rockies. “Our communities deserve leaders who prioritize health, equity, and environmental stewardship. I am ready to bring these values to the provincial legislature and ensure that Kootenay-Rockies remains a place where health, equity, and environmental sustainability are prioritized,” said Kerri.
Carrie McLaren has dedicated her career to addressing the complex housing challenges in Burnaby. With six years of experience as a Director for a Burnaby non-profit housing organization, Carrie has gained invaluable insights into the difficulties of finding homes for individuals with complex needs. “I’m passionate about making sure everyone in Burnaby-South Metrotown has access to a place they can call home. Housing is a fundamental right, and I’m ready to bring my experience and dedication to the provincial legislature to make that a reality for all,” said Carrie.
The party also announced Jed Wiebe for Salmon Arm-Shuswap and Francoise Renaut for Vancouver-Fraserview. Both candidates are renowned community leaders who are already getting to work in their ridings to bring Green policies to voters.
Sonia Furstenau concluded the announcement by emphasizing the importance of electing leaders who are in tune with their communities: “Kerri, Carrie, Jed and Francoise are exactly the kind of thoughtful, committed, and compassionate leaders we need. Together, they will work tirelessly to ensure that every British Columbian can thrive in a fair and sustainable society.”
