B.C. Greens Strengthen Election Team with New Candidates for Langley-Willowbrook and Surrey-White Rock

Lək̓ʷəŋən [Lekwungen] Territory / Victoria B.C. – The B.C. Green Party announces the candidacies of Petrina Arnason for Langley-Willowbrook and Scott Kristjanson for Surrey-White Rock (SWR) in the upcoming 2024 provincial election.

“I am delighted to welcome Petrina and Scott to our dynamic team of candidates for 2024,” said Sonia Furstenau, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “Their deep commitment to their communities and innovative leadership reflect the core values of our party.”

Petrina Arnason, a former Langley Township Councillor, has a distinguished career in environmental and legal advocacy. “It’s an honour to stand for the B.C. Greens in Langley-Willowbrook,” Arnason stated. “My focus is on climate action, addressing homelessness, and enhancing seniors’ policies. I am dedicated to fostering collaboration and driving sustainable community solutions.”

Arnason’s tenure on Langley Township Council was marked by her leadership in adopting a Climate Emergency Declaration and developing comprehensive climate action strategies. She also played a pivotal role in addressing homelessness and supporting seniors, showcasing her holistic approach to public service.

Scott Kristjanson, a former White Rock City Councillor, experienced computer systems developer and university educator, emphasized his commitment to improving the quality of life for British Columbians. “I am running for the B.C. Greens because our community needs strong leadership on housing affordability, improved healthcare, and environmental protection,” Kristjanson remarked. “I am committed to making meaningful changes that benefit all White Rock and South Surrey residents.”

Kristjanson’s achievements include updating the Official Community Plan (OCP) in White Rock to reduce building heights and density, and advocating for environmental protection. His collaboration with the Semiahmoo First Nation highlights his dedication to reconciliation and sustainable development.

With Petrina Arnason and Scott Kristjanson as candidates, the B.C. Green Party is poised to address critical issues in Langley-Willowbrook and Surrey-White Rock. Their candidacies reinforce the party’s commitment to transformative and responsible governance.
